Liner Considerations
Following are several other factors that can have an important influence on the performance of all types of liners:
- Liners should be manufactured using equipment properly sized for the product. CNC machining centers ensure accurate, consistent location of all holes and other characteristics.
- Heat treating furnaces must be sufficiently large and practices controlled to yield uniform metallurgical properties and flatness.
- Grinding practices must result in highly uniform thickness and flatness. An out-of-flat condition will result in a highly stressed liner when installed.
- During the installation process, all bolts should be snugged-up to position the liner, then completely tightened. This will prevent over stressing individual bolt holes.
Prior to installing liners, it is common to use a sealing compound on the back of the liner and around holes to prevent water from penetrating behind the liner and accelerating corrosion. Return to Ask! ASKO page. |
